Just to explain - we have always stayed at 't Eekhoornnest when we're in Holland. It has been so since Magna Carta first came here 35 years ago. The De Jong family own the bungalowpark and have become firm friends, sharing laughter and sorrow down many years.
It has become a bit of a tradition that when we stay at the Eekhoornnest - we play at the Eekhoornnest and the last time it was completely mad - we invited lots of people, so did Piers and Inneke, and the end result was a very full cantina - no one could move and it was a bit too much. Soooooooo - this time we didn't ask as many people, neither did Piers and Ineke and the result was - very few people - sometimes you just can't win.
It didn't matter of course - it was only for fun.
Danny, Piers and Inneke's son, started a band a few years ago. They have gone from strength to strength and now have a great repertoire of original songs. They have even got their own web site.
Tabby May came along, she also writes her own songs, so there was a lot of talent on the stage. The audience was made up mostly of close friends of ours and the De Jong's, so it was a private party with all the best people.
We went on first, then Tabby and then The Desperados. Chris did a song with The Desperados at the end. Matt played for them and a good time was had by all. I enjoyed my bit playing with the mixing desk for everyone and it was a really relaxed night, just what we needed in fact.
Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the music - come to think of it, so did we.
We should have tried to get an early night, but we couldn't clear up the equipment until everyone had gone (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) - so it was about 3am before we actually got into bed. Not all in the same bed of course!
