I think we all have to admit to being absolutely shattered - but so far we've enjoyed it tremendously and it has been well worth it.
The Dutch have a lovely habit of giving flowers at the end of concerts and, as you can see, we now have more than enough for our little cabin in the woods.
Today was special because it was a charity concert for Pax Kinderhulp, which helps children in third world countries by bringing them to Holland for holidays which may include visits to dentists and doctors etc. They are a very committed group of people (see 'getting ready' photo) and although we were not too happy about getting out of bed this morning - they made it all worthwhile.
The room was a bit daunting as it was high and mostly glass, which is just about the worse situation forgetting a good sound. It did echo around the place quite a bit but no-one seemed too bothered, and as the main point was to raise money for charity, it wasn't too much of a problem.
The concert went well again, everyone sends compliments to Andrew for his wonderful vocal parts on 'Fields of Eden'.
We were pleased to see Walter, Kaori, Jet and her daughter, Leen and Inneke, and several other good folk that we haven't seen for a while. It's always so nice to catch up on everyone's news...
Jet presented us with a big photo of Harvey, and her daughter Hanneke brought us all little gifts and a present for Harvey, which he will get when we get home. Like us, Walter is dying to see the new album because he actually did all the art work for the sleeve - it's a really classy cover and if all goes to plan it should be ready on Monday and we should have them in our hands by Friday.
After the concert we were treated to a tasty dinner before heading home (that saved me from cooking for which I was very grateful).
Now we're back in Soest, and I for one am looking forward to a well deserved sleep.
The next run starts on Saturday but that doesn't mean that we're not doing anything; Chris is now busy booking dates for next year, we'll be doing some radio shows and putting in some new material. And then, of course, there are Christmas cards to write. No rest for the wicked.
You can see more about this concert on the Pax-Kinderhulp, Apeldoorn website, and more about Magna Carta's involvement in an article on this site contributed by Ben Koops, of Pax Kinderhulp, Apeldoorn.
