Concert Diary 2007

De Meerpaal, Dronten - 14th December

Chris Simpson writes - Lord, what a place. We park in a shopping mall and there is the Theatre in front of us. It takes Matt and Jan some time to find the entrance.

The theatre's A team...

The sound man, Serge, bids us welcome and takes us to the dressing rooms. All these Theatre staff are nice people. Bas is the guy who takes care of it all and Daphne the lady who booked us in the first place.

Load in - and you can drive into this theatre to unload. Sound check.

Hearing Jackson's voice coming down always gets me.

Linda produces some mini discs to hopefully record the show, and Serge is happy to oblige. In fact he recorded the concert and hit us later with a bit of playback through the Theatre speakers and the quality was superb. It was matched by his dedication and total enthusiasm. So we have all the new songs on disc and we owe it to him.

It was strange to play the last concert in this series. It has become like a well oiled machine, not in any sense regimented or going through the motions, for every night and every song was different, but suddenly this is it, and who knows where it goes after this.

It was ever thus.

In one sense it is another show; in another sense it is THE show, the one before and the one after after anything else.

The audience are superb.

We have great lights from Arjan. And it is such a compliment that the sound / lights crew buy CD's.

In spite of all and the emotional pain that has been a fair weather friend on this tour, we pull it off again. Matt heads off into the Dutch hinterland.

We all hang out in the dressing room with Harry; Jet and the great Theatre staff. Drinks; farewells, Christmas coming and after three continents and a three weeks off in five months it is time to go home......and the knowledge that our music means so much to so many people. South Africa taught us that.

Anyway. Time to go home.

Home is, after all, where the heart is.

Love to each and every one of you, and may peace and love be your constant companions down the life road throughout 2008.
