Linda Simpson writes - It took about 40 minutes to get to the gig - and we were smack on time at 5pm.
The sound and lights crew met us in; - we loaded the gear in and started to set up. Jan came in, with his adorable daughter, Bibiana, and gave us a hand to get everything in place, but he was not meant to be working so he went off for his dinner whilst we got on with the sound check and the lights were set. These guys truly know what they are doing and it was a pleasure to work with them.
Once everything was set we started to get ready and then the food arrived AT LAST - PIZZAS... they were really good ones too - yummy.
It wasn't sold out. It's disappointing but it happens. Who knows why?
It didn't matter - we had a show to do - and we gave it all we had. The audience was just great although it took a little time to get into the swing of it.
There are always two concerts; - the one we have, and the one the audience sees. Ours was not the best - we made quite a lot of mistakes, although I'm just listening to the recording as I write this and I haven't heard any yet - so maybe we were just over-sensitive about it.
It was great to see more familiar faces in the crowd, I really do like to see friends in the audience; it's sort of comforting to know they are there.
We had a lot of fun on stage - everyone is really good at doing the 'Hello Harry' and Matt is getting better at the ba- bum thing so we might get a really good one of those before the tour is over. We were presented with beautiful flowers at the end of the night - they really make our little cabin feel like home. It was a great night - just a shame that there were not more people to enjoy it with.
The sound was perfect for us, thanks to Jurgen, the lights were also 'something else' - that was Mark, and Sander had it all together as stage manager. It's great to play in such circumstances. Mark very kindly took some photos of us after the concert while the lights were still on the stage. Jurgen may come to another concert to get a good live recording for us - he didn't have the chance to set up anything special for this concert (although I have to say it still sounds really good). We'll let you know how it all goes.
We had intended to get to bed as soon as possible when we got home but it was 3am again - what are we like?
