Linda Simpson writes - A small folk venue next to the railway station in Heighton. Not a large audience but a talented one, including the spoons champion (very entertaining, with a great line in chat) and a bodran (the spell checker seems to think that I meant 'bedpan') player who was excellent - sadly he left before I had chance to talk to him properly.
We got there early and so had a chance to set up before the PA arrived; that always makes life easier, and having sorted everything out in good time we went downstairs for a while where we met Dave Mountain. Now Dave has been in touch quite a bit over the past few months and so it was nice to meet the man himself. He has waited a long time to meet up with Chris and what we lacked in audience numbers was more than made up for by Dave's enthusiasm. I asked him to write a little note to put in this write up - this is what he said...
After waiting nearly 24 years... I didn't have to go far to fulfil my long awaited ambition of meeting Chris and watching Magna Carta in action tonight, 15 miles from home in fact, to a wonderful venue with a brilliant atmosphere is what I would call The Locomotion No1 in Heighton near Darlington, Co Durham, a fantastic venue, and Chris, Linda and Matt rocked the rafters there with a fine selection of songs old and new and all, as always, sung from the heart. My Magna Carta.... for evergreen, forever loved. Dave Mountain"
Thanks Dave - it's folks like you that make it all worthwhile.
